Modules studied are as follows:
|
ECDL is the internationally recognised qualification which, when completed, allows you to demonstrate your computer skills over a range of software. Amongst employers, ECDL is the recognised qualification for computer users and it is recognised by many schools and colleges. As part of the Youth Education & Training Programme, each young person has the chance to achieve the ECDL Certificate. The course lasts for a minimum of 26 weeks, usually 3 hours/week with maximum 10 per group.

Maths and English GCSE courses are delivered on site by BIFHE. Tutors will give individual help with course work and offer every support available. Classes are limited to 15 per group.

Focusing on literacy, numeracy and IT, the Essential Skills courses offered are aimed at identifying each learners specific needs and developing an individual action plan for each participant. The courses are accredited through CEA.

This award scheme provides accreditation in various subjects, including IT, and Certificates are widely accepted by employers. It is also possible through the Awards to work up to GCSE level.

The An Gaisce, or Presidents Award, is a challenging programme of activities which will help you to learn new skills, help others and experience adventure and it will give you a great sense or achievement. What's more, many organisations such as employers and universities take a good view of the Award and what it says about the person who has achieved it.

As part of the Youth Education and Training Programme, participants have the choice of taking part in two residentials per year. These usually take place in Newcastle , Co. Down for a period of three days. Activities include abseiling, orienteering, night light and water sports. Those delivering the residentials also work on personal development, with emphasis on increasing self-esteem and team building capacities.

This is a Programme designed to help young people aged 16-24yrs fully participate within their community by volunteering within various projects, with the opportunity to develop their own project. The scheme promotes active citizenship among young people and increases self-esteem and highlights positive actions by young people in the community. Each participant receives a certificate of merit, which is widely recognised by employers.

This Programme is delivered by Feile an Phobail and for those interested in media it is a fantastic opportunity to learn about interview skills, use of recording equipment, health and safety in a media environment, hospitality skills and post production skills. This is a fully accredited level 2 OCN qualification.

Personal Development Programme
|
This is on going throughout the year and is tailor made to deal with issues arising from discussion with each group. Previous topics have included sexual health, bullying, drug awareness, suicide awareness and substance abuse. The Programme is designed to increase self-confidence and create a sense of ownership as the young people decide the course content. Each group is limited to 12 participants.

The Drama course runs for 6-8 weeks and is specifically designed to deal with youth issues through a fun programme. It has proved to be very successful and is an innovative approach to encourage self-expression.

As the Youth Education & Training Programme is geared towards increasing employability, the job skills programme is vital. With the help of other agencies and the Job Assist Centre, based in Upper Andersonstown Community Forum, each young person is given individual help with all aspects of job search, from filling in CVs and application forms to gaining knowledge of identified labour market needs and available job opportunities and apprenticeships.
